This bristly, prickly biennial reaches a height of 60-90cm. Borage requires light, compost rich soil in full sun are very light shade. It should be planted 30 cm apart and grows up to 80cm tall. It has a sprawling habit. Borage is an attractive annual with edible blue flowers, used for garnish. The leaves can be used in Borage soup (See Recipe). The pretty blue flowers are used medicinally like Evening Primrose and are made into Starflower oil, so they are quite safe to eat and have a mild cucumber favour.
