Mustard plants are cultivated for their seeds which are commonly used as a spice. The plant itself can grow up to about 90cm. It will grow best in rich, well-drained soil. Mustard plants if given constant moisture. The leaves are covered in small hairs and can also be used in salads, as edible greens. Mustard has a number of medicinal uses such as an appetite stimulant, a digestive aid and a decongestant. It also helps in aiding blood circulation. Like many herbs mustard appears in the bible in a “The Parable of the Mustard Seed.
